The Story of Us
Dimitri and Amanda met on Hinge in December 2022. Their first date was at a Dallas rooftop bar, where they watched the sun set over the skyline and talked for four hours straight. Dimitri deleted the dating app that night and asked to see Amanda the very next day. After their second date, Amanda called her mom and exclaimed that she’d met the man she was going to marry. Neither of them ever went on another first date again.
Dimitri fit right into Amanda’s busy social life— attending weddings, parties, and family gatherings most of their weekends together. Her friends were thrilled she finally found “the one,” and her family fell in love with him almost as quickly as she did. He embraced her love of painting, and to his surprise, discovered a love for it too. In fact, they went on so many pottery painting dates that they ended up accidentally filling their entire kitchen with hand-painted dishes! Big plates, little plates, bowls, and mugs— you name it, they’ve probably painted it.
Amanda fell in love with Dimitri’s deep connection to his Greek roots and started learning Greek daily. In May of 2024, he whisked her away to Greece, where she met his family, celebrated Greek Easter, ate the best food, and took in the most breathtaking views.
The pair bonded over their shared love for creativity, party-planning, and quiet nights on the couch with their dog, Buckley— often ending their days with all three of them falling asleep to woodworking videos and documentaries with British narrators. On March 29, 2025, Dimitri proposed under a wooden arch he built from cedar trees at Amanda’s family farm, complete with a love letter, flowers, a bottle of Veuve Clicquot, and his YiaYia’s diamond in a handmade box.
And just like that, what started as a silly little Hinge swipe turned into a big fat Greek wedding.
